Fort Worth home owners are pleased to welcome a new Costco in the far north part of the city. The Seattle-based warehouse club is known for packing goods in bulk quantities, helping families save money while minimizing their trips to the grocery store. The new Costco will be located at Presidio Junction and marks the fourth location in Tarrant County. It is expected to open in late spring 2014.
Steve McArthur, a real estate broker who works with Costco in the Texas market, said, “We’re expanding in a lot of areas in Texas. That’s one area we know has good housing growth.” McArthur says that LNR Property Corp., who is developing Presidio Junction, still has some work to do in the space where Costco will eventually reside, but they expect the construction of the warehouse store to be complete in about four months after LNR finishes their infrastructure work.
The massive store will comprise approximately 153,847 square feet and will employ about 200 people from Fort Worth and beyond. McArthur says that about half of those people will be employed full-time. Located on the west side of I-35 west across from Alliance Town Center, the new Costco will cost about $11 million to build. Costco also has stores in Arlington, Southlake and southwest Fort Worth.
Presidio Junction is a 300-acre master-planned community with plans for one million square feet that will include shopping, dining, apartments, office space, and 750,000 square feet for a hotel.
